Position Overview 

Our Pre-Construction Manager will Create detailed scopes of work for construction projects. This person will be expected to negotiate pricing with suppliers and contractors. You will be a leader in the design progress. Your goal is to create a superior product while staying in compliance with the project budget and schedule. What will I do?

  • Create detailed scopes of work for construction projects
  • Organize budget pricing during the design process; coordinate estimating, bidding and selection of subcontractors
  • Create and maintain relationships with inspection agencies
  • Review and generate all contracts with vendors and subcontractors and participate in contract and pricing negotiations with vendors and subcontractors
  • Collaborate with project managers on team assignments and assist during the pre-construction phase
  • Supervise design progress for compliance with project budget, schedule, and quality criteria
  • Plans and lead the pre-construction strategy meeting on the approach to the project or estimate;
  • Coordinate materials as required during pre-construction period
  • Coordinate and assure that construction schedule has been developed
  • Verify estimates for accuracy, completeness, and reflection of expected project finish level
  • Evaluate potential risk factors; review with Senior Project Manager if necessary (e.g., unknown scope of work contingency items, contractor/vendor contract review, insurance review, permitting issues, etc.)

What do I have to have?

  • 5+ years of construction estimating and design experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors for 8+ hours per day 
  • Desire to work as part of The Team
  • A high level of ambition and determination 
  • Strong communication skills via in person conversation, telephone, email, text, and mail
  • Solid background in construction estimating
  • Strong software and internet skills
  • Ability to learn and use construction estimating and management software
  • Excellent time management
